Are podcasts kicking TV and books to the curb? While this may be an exaggeration, podcast popularity continues to grow each year, making it one of the best mediums to utilize to enhance thought leadership and brand expansion. Last year, there was around 120 million podcast listeners in America alone (Statista Research Department) . If you haven’t already, we’re here to convince you why you should work on building a staffing firm podcast strategy. Let’s get into it!
Quick, Easy and Cost-Effective
Even if you’re just getting into the podcast space, podcasting doesn’t have to be difficult or take up a good chunk of your time. A simple tool to start out with is Garageband which comes with all Mac computers. Find a cheap mic on Amazon, hook it up to your computer, and you’re good to go!
If you aren’t familiar with Garageband, Google and/or YouTube are your friend, as there are videos that show you how to do just about anything with this software. Editing is simple as well with their drag-and-drop usability, making your podcast project as swift and seamless as possible.
Helpful for Candidates
Crafting a staffing firm podcast strategy not only helps you, but it also helps candidates. Let’s face it, candidates don’t want to read a novel-length job description. That’s where podcasts come in! Create short, to the point, yet insightful podcast episodes that give the candidate the inside scoop on what skillsets and experience they’re looking for, along with other helpful tidbits like what success looks like in this role, and a little bit about the company culture and benefits offered.
These only have to be a few minutes long, too! Podcasts like these help candidates get a feel for not only the role, but also the team as putting a voice to the name makes things much more personalized (if the hiring manager is comfortable with it, of course!).
Popular Medium
While video still reigns, podcasts are a close second for Gen-Z in particular. This generation craves content that they don’t have to read through, so if you’re looking to attract this audience, jump aboard the podcast ship! Gen-Z and millennials make up the largest podcast-consuming demographic as 49% of monthly listeners in America are between the ages of 12-34 (riverside.fm). Utilizing this medium gives you a leg-up as it is not yet a common recruitment tactic, and it shows that you pay attention to how candidates want to be marketed to.
